Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-28
This policy explains what data the multiplayer game Oceana (Android package com.vejo.oceana, also available for Windows; "the Game") collects, why, where it is kept and how you can have it deleted. The Game is developed and operated by VeJo ("we", "us"). Questions and requests: vejods@gmail.com.
In short
- We collect only what is needed to sign you in, keep your progress and run the shared online world.
- The Game has no advertising and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not sell your data.
- The Game does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or advertising ID.
- Your call sign, boat, position and chat messages are visible to other players: that is what a shared world is.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time (see Deleting your data).
1. Data we collect
Sign-in
You sign in with your Google account (Google sign-in / Google Play Games). We store the identifier that the provider gives for your account and a session token that we issue so you stay signed in. We never receive or store your Google password. We do not request access to your Gmail, contacts, Drive or other Google data. Closed-test builds may also offer signing in with just a call sign and no password; then the call sign is the identifier of your account.
Call sign
The name you choose for your captain. It is shown to other players over your boat, in chat, in friend lists and on leaderboards.
Game progress
Your character level and experience; coins and other currency, with a ledger of each movement (reason and amount); the hold, equipment, boat setup and tools; the part of the map you have explored; places you have discovered; the markers you put on your chart and the short labels you type for them; quest, story and activity progress; the creatures you have met; leaderboard results; your contribution to outpost and boss fights; the last position and heading of your boat, so the Game resumes where you stopped; and your settings stored with the account (such as "do not disturb"). We also record which players picked up items you threw out, because those item trades are part of the game economy.
Social features
Chat messages you send to the global channel, your region or another player (whisper); your friend list; the players you blocked and mute status. Friend requests and party membership live only in server memory while you play.
Moderation records
To keep chat safe we keep a short audit trail: a time, the kind of event (a message, a message stopped by the word filter, an automatic or manual mute, a block), your account and in-game identifiers and, for messages, the text (up to 256 characters).
Technical data
Our server writes operational logs (errors and warnings that may contain an account or character identifier). Like any online service, our hosting provider processes your IP address and connection metadata to deliver the connection; our database does not store IP addresses.
On your device
The Game keeps your session token, call sign, language and interface, camera and graphics preferences in the app's local storage on your device. Nothing else is read from your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes this local data.
2. What we do not collect
We do not collect your real name, e-mail address, phone number, precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone input, advertising ID or payment details. The Game has no in-app purchases and no ads.
3. Why we use the data
- To provide the Game: sign you in, run the shared world, save and restore your progress, show you to your friends and other players (performance of the service).
- To keep the Game safe and fair: prevent cheating, spam and abuse, enforce chat rules, investigate faults (our legitimate interest in a safe service).
- To comply with the law when required.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decisions with legal effects.
4. Who receives the data
- Google provides sign-in (Google account / Google Play Games) and distributes the Android app through Google Play. Google processes data under its own Privacy Policy.
- Railway (Railway Corporation) hosts our game server and PostgreSQL database and processes the data on our behalf.
- Other players see your call sign, boat, position nearby, chat messages you send, friend status and leaderboard entries.
- We may disclose data if the law or a valid legal request requires it, or to protect the Game and its players from abuse.
We do not sell or rent personal data and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Storage, transfers and security
Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database and a server process hosted by Railway. Railway is based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside your country; we rely on the safeguards offered by the hosting provider for such transfers. Traffic between the Game and the server is encrypted (TLS / wss://). The server, not the app, decides game results, so the app cannot write values into your save. Access to the production database is restricted to the people who run the Game.
6. How long we keep data
- Account, progress and social data are kept for as long as your account exists, until you ask us to delete it.
- Moderation records are not deleted automatically at the moment; we delete the ones about you when you ask us to delete your data.
- Server logs are kept by the hosting provider for its standard log retention period.
- Local data on your device stays until you clear it or uninstall the app.
7. Deleting your data and your other rights
You may ask us to access, correct, export or delete the data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its use and, if you are in the EEA, UK or a similar jurisdiction, to complain to your data-protection authority. To delete your account and all its data, e-mail vejods@gmail.com from any address with the subject "Delete my Oceana account" and tell us your call sign and how you sign in (Google or call sign). We may ask you to prove that the account is yours. We delete the account, character, progress, friend lists, blocks and other data linked to it, and also remove the moderation, contribution and trade records that name you. We aim to complete the request within 30 days.
You can also remove local data by uninstalling the app, and you can remove the Game's access to your Google account in your Google account settings.
8. Children
The Game is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Game changes. The date of the current revision is at the top of the page; for material changes we will also notify players in the Game or on the store page.
